Dido

Dido took the train to Rome
She is curious about her ancient lover
It is true, there’s still a fire in her soul
The glow of tales and memories and songlines, long ago

The evening star stands right above this city
where ancient ruins give shelter to the loving couples, wanderers

She knows, the past has gone
She knows that life today is lived by others
That finally, even queens must leave their throne
But she only wants to find out if he carved her name in stones

The morning star stands right above the city
Where tourist busses drone before the ruins.

And she cries  like  rain silent drops of tears
’cause she finds no lines no hidden signs
no whisper of her name
She is not remembered here

So Dido takes the train back home.
